THE VOW follows the rise and fall of the self-improvement group NXIVM through the personal testimonies of former high-ranking members and survivors. With a trove of archival material and real-time, verité defections the series unpacks how intelligent, idealistic people can surrender their judgment to a system that gradually reshapes the boundaries of what they are willing to accept.
“The Vow is an impressive and even transfixing achievement… makes clear that the story of NXIVM is more complex — and much more chilling — than the reductive ‘sex cult’ label would indicate.”
The New York Times
“Sympathetic, curious and unsettling.”
The Hollywood Reporter
“Crafted like a ticking bomb.”
